THE NIGERIAN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.

Looking at the way the Nigerian educational system has been suffering have made me to decide to put something down on the way forward on this. why should nigeria educational system keeps on suffering so much injustice? was it that Nigeria is not good enough to claim its place in the global educational systems?

well we need to look at the factors responsible

1)THE PROBLEM WITH JAMB
Judging by the way things are going, i will say that 'JAMB HAS FAILED NIGERIAN'. How?
this body is so corrupt today that they could no longer be relied upon. why should a paper be marked and remarked after the result has been released to the publics? that shows their incapability. they remark only one paper, which happened to be physics and through this one paper, those who were previously given 193 eventually was given 238 after remark, definitely if they could remark all the papers, many will score above 280 which were presently given 198 or less. i thought they said it was computer that mark all the papers and if that computer could fumble in physics, definitely there is probability that it could fumble in all the other papers.what is speeding JAMB so much that they were rushing to mark the nigerian scripts. if they use three months to mark all these papers without any mistakes, it is better than to use three days with so much mistakes. apart from all these, it is publicly known today that some people are bribing JAMB to buy results of some candidates. why should we keep on trusting in this Failed body?

imagine students, reading tirelessly to pass an examination, and all they wake up to discover is that their results is being sold to unqualified candidates. what a pity. i came to look limpidly into this issue and what i got was realling terrifying. i came to discover that some special centres were bribing some top JAMB officials to give them subtletly the question papers. and so thing keeps on getting corrupted everyday. student, i mean Genius students have fallen victims of all these and it all seems as if they don't know anything at all.

i think in my opinion, JAMB SHOULD BE CANCELLED AND EACH SCHOOL SHOULD BE EMPOWER TO CONDUCT THEIR OWN ADMISSION BASED ON O-LEVEL RESULTS AND NOT ON JAMB AGAIN.

2)SPECIAL CENTRES:
WHAT are we turning this nation into? what is the government doing on this issue of special centres? if you want to do WAEC, there are special centres for it. not just only it, each examination has special centres and government is not setting up any task force to combat all these. i think this area needs to be looked upon.

3)YOU KNOW WHO?
THIS is the most shameful aspect of nigerian educational system. even when students meets the requirments of their choice school, scaling through the hurdles of WAEC, JAMB and MORAL requirments, schools, virtually all schools in Nigeria is still asking students who they know before they are given admission. you don't know anybody, then forget the admission.
Last Year, i and some of my friends went to attend Post PCE at the polytechnic of Ilaro and we are surprised at the outcome of every thing. we are four in numbers, and none of us scores less than 193 in PCE, and 136 in post PCE. but we were surprised to see that the candidates that top my own department scores 52, 55 also in both the civil engineering department and HND accounting where there was a 171. could you imagine the act of injustice against students?
also that same last year a friend of mine did UME and Had 249, he went to UNILAG for their post UME, he managed to score 59.5, but he took them for both first and second choice courses and institutions. the first choice being medicine and Surgery and the second Chemistry. the cut-off mark for medicine is 66.7 that for chemistry was 58.6 for ogun catchment area only to be surprised that the admission was not given. he pressed on to meet the school authority only for a security man to say, 'had it been you came with a letter head, you would have been considered' he asked what letter head really mean't and was told that 'had it been that you came with a letter from one of the top people in the society, you would be considered'.
i think the government also needs to look into all these.

4)INFRASTRUCTURE:
i also will implore the government to create as much chemistry/chemical, physics/engineering and all scientific laboratories all over the nation apart from the common library we have. if Nigeria want to discover new things and produce the next Nobel Lauret, it is through all these that these could be realised. we need a radioactivity laboratory, a medical laboratory virtually in all states of Nigeria. when all these is created, let their be free access to it by the masses, whether an undergraduate, graduate, secondary and those seeking yet for admission.
also, in UK we have the ROYAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCE, in USA also, we have a body looking into scientific discoveries, WHERE IS OUR OWN ROYAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCE?
I THINK WE NEED ONE.

Every thing requires wisdom. let the government look on these and i think within few years we will be there.
